Recipe of the Month

Stirfry With Shrimp and Sweet Pumpkin


1. medium to large raw shrimp 1 lb, devined, peeled and no tail. 

1/3 teaspoon salt

1 tablespoon corn starch

1/8 teaspoon ground white pepper* (can find in Asian market or maybe green planet grocery)

1/2 teaspoon roasted sesame oil (can find in green planet or wegmans)

1/3 cup frozen green peas.

buttercup squash or Japanese pumpkin

2 tablespoons of high heat cooking oil

1 green onions finely chopped

1 teaspoon of rice cooking wine

1/6 teaspoon ground white pepper

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/3 teaspoon sugar.

1 teaspoon starch mixed with

1.5 tablespoon chicken broth

1 teaspoon roasted sesame oil



1. Mix 1 and 2 well, marinate at least 1 hour up to overnight.

2. boil pumpkin cubes in boiling water for 3 minutes, get rid of excessive water in colander

3. using a non stick pan, add cooking oil on high heat, put in chopped green onions, stirfry until fragant (very quick, 5-10 secs), put in shrimps and stirfry until half cooked, add green peas. then put in the cooking wine, and the rest of the seasoning  add pumpkin cubes, keep stir frying and mix well for a minute or two (be sure not to overcook the shrimp). add items until sauce thickens. serve hot by itself or over rice.
