Personal Training

Believe in your goals, work hard to attain them, never give up...If you are thinking about personal training, you are taking your first step to a healthier and more rewarding life.

The Program - The Oswego YMCA's Certified PersonalTrainers (CPT's) mission is to improve your health and change the way you think and feel about fitness.  Training is available during business hours to Y members and nonmembers.  Sessions are conducted in the YMCA, or can be combined with additional activities outside of the fitness center.  Training is much more than heading to the gym and lifting weights.  Training is a commitment to a change in lifestyle.  When you train with a YMCA Certified Personal Trainer, you will receive a personally designed program and the motivation you will need to succeed!  Dietary guidelines are available upon request from our nutritional staff.

A comprehensive program is needed to achieve the best results.  Whether a novice or advanced athlete, we can design a program that is best suited for you.  Training should be as unique as each individual.  Sessions may include a balanced combination of resistance training, flexibility, plyometric movements, circuit work, cardiovascular training and more. 

All you need is a goal and the willingness to work hard, and we will do the rest.

The Trainers - Our Certified Personal Trainers are more than just YMCA employees.  They are the people that you see in and around the community, leading a fitness class or sweating it out next to you in the fitness center.  Certification by the YMCA of the USA is nationally recognized by both ACE and AFAA fitness organizations.

Introduction - Before starting, you will receive a program consultation and fitness assessment.  For an additional fee, the Oswego YMCA offers Bio-Analogics, a personalized analysis program designed to input specific client data and produce body composition repores including:

  • % of body fat and % of lean body mass
  • Total body H2O
  • Metalbolic Rate
  • Consumption % of protein, carbs and fat
  • Recommended caloric intake and more!

Our Trainers - Oswego YMCA Personal Trainers are Certified by the YMCA of the USA, and nationally recognized by both ACE and AFAA fitness organizations.  In addition, many are experienced and educated in other areas of fitness and nutrition.  All YMCA trainers and fitness center staff are CPR/AED certified.

  • Luann Kecham - As the Oswego YMCA Fitness Center Director, LuAnn has been with the YMCA for 14 years and has a variety of certifications for group exercise programs and as well as special population training certification including healthy back and people with disabilities.  She also serves as the Personal Fitness Program Director.
  • Trish Levine - Trish provides personal training services including cardiovascular and strength training programs.  A YMCA certified group exercise instructor for more than 15 years, Trish has led a variety of classes including kickboxing, step aerobics and weight workouts.  She currently teaches Pilates and indoor cycling in addition to being a personal trainer.
  • Kim McPherson -  She has been a certified group exercise instructor for the past 14 years.  She has led many classes including step, kickboxing, bootcamp and circuit training.  She currently teaches indoor cycling as well as personal training.
  • Karine Jalbert
  • Fred Sheffield-  Fred is retired from the US Air Force and a Oswego Y group cycle instructor. His background is in personal fitness and powerlifting.
